TBH I'm a little dissatisfied with my last couple videos. I mean I think they're good—professional, up to my standard of writing, founded on good research. But they're too cautious, and not really what I want to do on YouTube.

In particular, I did the videos on capitalism largely because I got 50 comments a day saying "talk about capitalism." And I do think it's an important topic, I'm glad I did something on it. But economic analysis is not really what I'm good at. It doesn't excite me.

I think people who are fans of a thing have an idea of what they want from that thing that isn't necessarily what they actually want. Probably they don't yet know what they want, so it's the creator's job to tell them what they want and then give it to them.

There's a place for feedback too, obviously, but other people can't tell me what inspires me. People think they want a million-part series on capitalism from me, but I'm telling you right now that there are other things I can do much better than that.

I so agree with this. Fans of individual creators are fans of the way a particular mind works, the way a creator sees the world and how they communicate that. Good luck with the purification process, and I hope you're able to feel as much satisfaction as we your audience do.
