And discovering the truth is very, very difficult. In part because there is no truth. Or rather, there's a million different truths because different people perceive you differently.

Anyway, probably this is all going to end in a lot of cosmetic surgery. But before doing that you want to be able to tell the difference between dysphoria about what you look like and dysmorphia about what you fear you look like.

I think it’s also hard to tell how someone looks or sounds if you’re already familiar with them, as you put them in the “this is that person” box which kinda overrides which group you might see them as being in. Objectivity is difficult.

Besides the obvious, I suspect FFS helps people psychologically because it’s quick enough to move them outside of the familiar. It makes you look instantly different, the way hormones’ slow and steady changes don’t.

It could also be learning how to love yourself I've heard, but that's bullshit and I don't want to put in the effort.

i at least fit the description of Trans Adult because even though i'm only one or two years older than you i've been transitioning for like 9 years now. and i will say... in some ways it doesn't get easier. but that also really depends on how supportive your environment is.

having the amount of visibility you do exposes you to a lot of scrutiny/hostility that makes it hard not to feel dysphoria. unless you have an extremely solid base of support outside that (and sometimes even if you do) it's hard to avoid it, especially in the world we live in now
