(Just to get everyone caught up here, I'm being criticized for proposing to make a video titled "Are Traps Gay?")

5: "This title is clickbait." Well, in a sense every good title is clickbait. That's just part of being a content creator. The bad kind of clickbait is dishonest or sensational. And I don't think this is—the title of the video is the meme the video is about.

Specifically, the title is cisbait. It's designed to attract exactly the audience that I think most desperately needs to hear the arguments I'm going to make. For that reason, I think it's a good title.

End thread. You're of course welcome and entitled to continue criticizing me for this. But I respectfully disagree.

honestly, like, a lot of trans people affectionately use the term "trap" (myself included) and while that's not at all an argument excusing cis ppl for using it all willy nilly, the confusing part is when another trans person gets in trouble for talking about cis ppl's use of it

Like I know theres a contingent of queer ppl who will come after anyone who says it regardless of identity but by and large I feel like reclamation of slurs by groups they're used against is pretty accepted, right up until we try to use it to make something for public consumption

Convincing everyday people to stop perpetuating transmisogynistic slurs is bad actually.
