I want to apologize for the defensive thread (now deleted) I posted a couple days ago in which I complained that "transbian ancom anime Twitter hates me" and defended reclaiming slurs in a non sequitur to what I was actually being criticized for.

The point of the initial fake-out is that it's warm and inviting. If the video is framed as "Why You're Transphobic"—no one likes that, no one listens to that. They're dead against you from the start.

People have this expectation about what an "SJW" is like: that you're angry, always outraged, humorless, tiresome, earnest to a fault. The point of ContraPoints is to have SJW-type talking points presented by a host who's nothing like that.

If I come right out of the gate with guns blazing, shouting "YOUR SHITTY MEME GETS TRANS WOMEN KILLED"—no one listens. I'm just a hysterical wacko in the eyes of everyone who isn't already woke about this.

3: "Would you do a video with the n-word in the title?" No, I wouldn't. I'm not black.

4: "If trans women see the phrase 'Are Traps Gay?' without a warning, that could be triggering/upsetting to a lot of them." I'm not someone who disparages safe spaces. I think it's incredibly important to have spaces like that. But my channel is not designed to be a safe space.

sometimes i just wish you would just ignore your audience for a bit and have fun with a video without needing to create several aggressive twitter threads where it feels like youre in SJW-court and need to defend yourself

I follow
@rinsenpai who made a video doing something similar. It starts by parodying a pewdiepie review of the meme and then ends up with a good discussion about all the ins and outs of it ---->https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7NUPQiVThU …Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Trans mtf here who used to be in a lot of "non-pc" groups etc and while reclaiming slurs is fine on a interpersonal level in groups or online I've only seen it lead to acceptance of worse views, nothing wrong with your style imo but there's nothing to gain from using their lingo
-
By that I mean maybe you can convince people one on one but I don't expect it to work in groups online, granted not going full censorship is good for dealing with "moderates" ie the shitty but not totally shit people
