Of course, a lot of people say the first thing while leaving the second quietly implied.

I think this is why it's so easy for this discussion to get out of hand. We're not stupid. Sometimes we can tell when the other half is implied. But you can't base an argument on a hunch or woman's intuition, unfortunately.

Who *can* object? Can *I* object? Can anyone actually object without their objection being blamed on t r a n s a c t i v i s t s ? ‘cause let’s be honest, “I’m not into trans women” is a total garbage statement.

*sigh* What you’re saying is totally cogent and correct Natalie. I just hate how every single relevant life experience I’ve had has shown that someone saying “I’m not into trans people” or “I wouldn’t date a trans person” indicates ignorance topped with prejudice.

Well, let me say it for you. That's what white cisboy allies are for: *ahem* "98% of the people who are saying the first thing really mean the second one. And that's me being fucking generous."

Also, apologies: I made my previous comment before I noticed your entire, brilliant thread. Very insightful, and I should have waited before I opened my virtual mouth.pic.twitter.com/dva23cWMrv

I don't think anyone looks bad just for seeing that such strong, specific dating "preferences" almost always have bigotry as their source. It's not about telling people who to date, it's about asking people to becone aware of their biases and start questioning them.
