This following thread is a response to @ArielleScarcell and @MsBlaireWhite's video about dating preferences and transphobia. https://youtu.be/f6ywxHAvAds (1/??)

Let's start by agreeing on the truth of some free-floating contextless facts: 1. Everyone has the absolute right to refuse sex with anyone at any time for any reason. Ever. 2. Not wanting to fuck trans people is not *necessarily* in itself a sign of bigotry.
Show this thread -
What I want to dispute is not the truth of these facts (they are literally true) but the *way in which they are used* as an alibi to bigotry, ignorance, or misunderstanding.

Arielle frames this issue as an *attack on lesbianism*—t r a n s a c t i v i s t s (we're told) insist that lesbians "should" be attracted to trans women. Arielle responds: lesbians aren't attracted to trans women BECAUSE they're lesbians—ie because they're attracted to *women.*
Show this thread -
Arielle believes and advocates the idea that people are only attracted to trans people on the basis of their birth sex. She mentions having dated a trans man because she was attracted to him *as a woman.*

She repeatedly suggests that any and all so-called "lesbians" who are into trans women are actually just bisexuals who could never understand the true lesbian mentality.

Her point is always: lesbians aren't into trans women *because* they're lesbians. Gay men aren't into trans guys *because* they're gay. The idea is that sexual orientation is based exclusively on assigned birth sex, and *gender* is little more than a figment of trans imagination.

(this is not really related to the excellent points you're making, which are excellent, but I don't think I've heard someone saying they've done BETTER in attractiveness post-transition and so many of my fears are based on that, it's such a relief to hear from you)

my friend worried that transition would mean she'd never find a date ever again... but the actual result was that she had to learn to deal with people fighting over her
