I think it's a bad theory that doesn't stand up to scrutiny but can be extremely insidious when unexamined and implicit, so it's important to talk about it. BTW, could you link to

Thank you for making this, it's such an important topic to me. It's all there was when I was a teenager looking for answers on why I felt the way I did and because of that, I dismissed my feelings as "some weird fetish" and had such a hard time accepting myself as trans. <3
