It's not "playing pretend" when: A) Someone passes perfectly as female B) Using "he" would be actively difficult since it's the masculine pronoun, and Blaire is not masculine. https://twitter.com/realjujuhound/status/930239763977768963 …

trans people who don't pass are not "playing pretend" either

The tweet was deleted, but the "playing pretend" part was in reference to the people (like me) using the pronouns and "enabling mental illness" or something, not the trans individuals themselves. I was being accused of playing pretend, not Blaire.

I see what you're saying, but even if someone doesn't pass *to you* (& passing is a terrible criterion because it's totally subjective), it doesn't mean you're "pretending" when you use their pronouns. You're simply acknowledging their ID, not lying about how you perceive them.

Yeah, I agree, and I don't have a problem using pronouns regardless of passing, but the argument being made by these conservatives that to EVER use a trans person's pronouns is just PC culture is ridiculous. They're going OUT OF THEIR WAY to misgender.

That's what I was at least trying to say ha, sorry if it didn't come across clearly

ok I def agree with that. like some people are expending great effort to misgender someone DESPITE their own perception of the person. yes. that is a thing people do.

A lot of people I know IRL (Texas and Kansas so super conserv) don’t agree but won’t be a dick about it. The people who do go out of their way get eye rolls and words from us too. Work friend transitioned, surprised how fast people were called out being dicks about it.
