What do you think about that plenty of people think that the phrase "male-to-female transition" should be left behind, because the ones transitioning have never actually been male?

Nat, if you find comfort in the term then use it. Personally I find it dissatisfactory because it further fuels the notion that transition is inherently spectacle, and it also implies that at some point, trans women were men, when they never were.

trans women who think of themselves as having always been women generally consider transition a matter of presentation, medical affirmation, and social change. I.e. they always identified as women so transition for them = altering external (non-psychological) circumstances.
