the phrase "targets mostly females" suggests not only the idea that sex is biological (binary, = to birth assignment, etc) but also that sex (& not gender) really matters. I don't think you mean this, but talking about "females" like this has a whiff of "trans women aren't women"

it is typically hurled at cis women, not trans women (though there are exceptions). and sex is biological. not here for misinformation.

I'm not saying sex isn't biological. Only that by describing "TERF" as a slur against "females" (and presumably brandished by "males"—i.e. trans women) one steps into imo pretty sketchy territory.

how is acknowledging it is mostly used pejoratively against females sketchy? it happens to me everyday, sometimes with threats of violence.

it's simply evocative of a transphobic narrative that trans women are "male aggressors" menacing females. Even saying "cis women" instead of "females" wouldn't evoke that so much. (btw, I do get where you're coming from re overblown "TERF" accusations on Twitter)

I'm just saying, it's a little like using a phrase like "thugs on welfare." Maybe it's not meant to be racially evocative, but that's kicking around in the background and some people will take it that way.

woahhh nah. i used the word “female” girl. to talk about a word used pejoratively. that is *not* like the racially charged word “thug”.

Replying to @gogreen18 @ContraPoints and
I think the problem here is the implication that trans women are male, which is indeed something usually used pejoratively against them.
