So when I say similar things, people are reminded of the other people who have said those things and then abandoned the left altogether. So it's understandable that people are wary of being betrayed.
But it also sucks on my end, because it often feels like I can't speak my mind, can't debate, can't publicly engage with outsiders without my distrustful so-called comrades thinking I'm about to abandon everything I've ever stood for. And, to be honest, that hurts.

So I know this reassurance means nothing, but for the sake of formality I suppose I'll say that no, I'm not on the verge of abandoning everything I stand for. And not even being disowned by the left would be enough to make me join the right.

Yeah you know, when you pal around with TERFs and alt-right YouTubers, people tend to not trust you.
You're constantly and adamantly refusing to see exactly what happened wrong here and it is insulting.
I for one don’t give a damn who you debate, it’s being pally with them and then criticising people with concerns that worries me.
Debate whoever you like, signal boosting these people and being friendly with them though, that’s why people get worried.
debate and giving them praise are two different things
you weren't engaging with him, you were making nice with him and legitimising him, it's not your intent but this helps him do more harm
