I think, to cis people, the desire to transition is so inconceivable that when very young people do it, they assume they must have been coerced by sinister doctors and activists.

Which largely I think stems from thinking about it backwards - they don't realize we transition BECAUSE we feel basically the same

best explanation I've heard for this is cis ppl always imagine themselves transitioning away from their current gender instead of towards it

I agree with the general idea but I think it's worth saying if you asked 6 yr old me to explain my gender identity they wouldn't be able to.
