The article is pretty hopeless in that it doesn't describe any solutions to the problem. But I think a couple can be inferred.

1. It is a mistake to think Democrats can win by placating the "white working class"—by deriding "political correctness," diversity, etc.

2. Instead they should build an anti-racist coalition of most non-white voters and white allies. More Obama, less Clinton/Sanders.

If you don't stop to demonize men, whites, Christians, straights etc you'll get your punishment on election day. It's not about "deriding" polit. correctness or diversity, it's about STOP BEING RACIST AND SEXIST. If you shame sb for sth they cannot change, you're an asshole.
