But that vagueness is frustrating when you're trying to explain this to other people. You want to be able to give a precise definition.

A complication for me is I'm starting to suspect that I might be, in fact, a trans woman with a bunch of hangups about transitioning.

So a lot of my own experience of genderqueerness comes from the dissonance between my having lived life as a man, being treated like a man,

inhabiting a male body, but wanting to be a woman. And now for the first time expressing that with my clothing, etc.

I feel like I shouldn't say "wanting to be a woman" or that's not what I'm supposed to feel, but it is basically what I feel.

That, and not experiencing any dysphoria until adolescence, and putting it on the back burner most of my adulthood makes me think

that I couldn't really be trans. But in fact there are lots of trans people who don't fit the classic story of "wrong body since birth"
