I often have to exercise restraint to avoid expressing my hostility toward religion.
-
-
But I have a lot of friends and family who are religious. They are good people. And they will never forsake their religion.
-
Part of being a participant in an open, diverse society is knowing when and how to suppress your hostility.
-
Obviously, there will be occasions when it flares up again.
-
And since religion is not independent of politics or ethics, there are situations where it has to be criticized.
-
But in most situations I find that openly disdaining or mocking religion does absolutely nothing good.
-
I also enjoy appropriating religious aesthetics for my own degenerate purposes.
-
This doesn't endear me to religious people but it does make the Voltaires a little tiresome to me.

Same. Most of my family is deeply Roman Catholic, but I don't really have issues with them, despite my beefs with the church itself.

I'm the same way. I just learned to hold those beliefs while also having some tact.
