People tend to assume my academic background is in "postmodern Marxist cultural studies man-hating." But it really isn't.

At the graduate level I was largely a Kant person. Kant and a few other prominent 19th Century racists.
In my experience you actually have to go out of your way to get any kind of critical gender/race theory in philosophy departments.

You're 100% on the money with this. Philosophy depts in the US are mostly analytic which is about as far from critical theory as you can get

My school literally gets its first philosophy of gender class next semester. Oh and philosophy and theology are still the same department

How would you say is postmodernism received inside philosophy?

As another guy with an MA in Philosophy, I would say not very much. I would wager most philosophy depts are hostile towards it.
