not weighing in has allowed people to interpret it in their own way and it's been p interesting to see the diff conclusions people come to

-
But lots of people have been asking me what the "lesson" is supposed to be, and the answer is Idk, it's supposed to be ambiguous.
-
I tried to mimic the way these debates go as accurately as possible, and I think I succeeded at that, since even the Alt-Right thinks
-
I represented them fairly. I've gotten several comments from Alt-Right people saying I depict them perfectly in this vid.
-
BUT, I can now weigh in a little and give some idea of what I think it means and what we should do about it.
-
Two definite things: 1) Saul is the only one who is correct and 2) he loses this debate totally and utterly
-
Fritz is a predatory fascist and Jackie is either an extremely naïve inadvertent enabler or an intentionally malicious one
-
Saul responds to Fritz by completely shutting down, by being baffled and bewildered and offended and shocked. He's frankly astonished.
-
Saul is completely ineffectual, and every single leftist has been him at one time or another. I definitely have. We all have.
-
The big debate is whether Saul's mistake is 1) that he doesn't walk out of the room immediately or 2) that he doesn't use better rhetoric
-
I think either would be better than what he does.
-
There's a reason why it comes as a big relief when Abigail Cockbane shows up. Cockbane is a bit villainous herself be she doesn't take shit.
-
If Cockbane debated Fritz nothing productive would happen but at least she wouldn't be bullied. She'd interrupt, accuse, get real ugly.
-
But what she does is leave immediately. She won't even consider walking into the room with Fritz. And that works out better for her TBH
-
So if there's a "lesson" I guess it's that we have to work on not being Saul. Maybe that means walking out of rooms like that.
-
Or maybe it means developing anti-Fritz rhetorical strategies. But I honestly don't yet know what those are.
-
I can't say I've ever seen someone in debate with a Pepe-grinning fascist come out on top. But if it could be done it'd be worth doing.
