Finally watching some Jordan Peterson lectures to get caught up on that situation. I have some major disagreements with him:

It's not a capitulation to American imperialist ideology to treat soldiers with basic respect.
As a professor it's part of your job to treat your students with basic respect. That's not you being oppressed. It's not anti free speech.

Also: you can make the case for preferred pronouns on purely liberal, individualist, pre-Marxist grounds.

But as I've said, you can disagree with "trans ideology" without being a prick to your students.

If the issue is really just "compelled speech" or some official policy, fine, attack the policy. Leave your students out of it though.

Image a professor demanding the right to refer to his female students as "bitches" and use racial slurs toward his minority students.

Imagine a cashier in any store demanding the free speech to be an asshole to their customers.
