A lot has changed for me in the last year. I've gone from being a somewhat detached observer to a pretty committed SJW.

I've lost much of the sense of light-heartedness, fun and good humor I had when I started. Politics now often makes me very unhappy.

So it's more of a struggle than ever to try to see the humanity in the other side, to avoid feeling like a combatant in a good v. evil fight

But I still stand by my decision to leave the academic walls and try to engage populist ideas head on.

It's going to take a lot more effort than when I started, but I want to try to keep the good humor, humanity, and debate alive
