Which if introduced in the US would cause some states to get disproportionate attention/treatment. Not a fan of the electoral system, but..
well, the states with more people in them would have more influence, which seems fair to me

Well on a state level, but on a personal level, if you lived in a small state, your vote would carry a lot less influence.

In that system your vote would count towards all the votes of your candidate and thus have just as much influence as any other vote.
