When you deliberately attack people with the intention of silencing their political views, that's unjustified vigilante political violence.

To me, most people aren't thinking it's about silencing him. They're just glad someone so awful got punched.

Of course, some are, but I think most are just taking a bit of joy in someone who represents these views getting hit.
