Spent hours and hours last night trying to fix some hissy audio. Tried noise removal, dubbing new audio. Both are worse than hiss.

yeah I tried that... basically it messes up the speech audio too, so it's better just to leave the hiss imo

If your program has an audio EQ, you could use a low-pass filter, or a notch if you can position it just right.
