On further reflection, I actually think Twitter was wrong to ban @Nero. But I also think they need to do more to protect users from abuse.

The problem is it's trivial to create throw-away twitter accounts. One solution would be to tie it to a credit card.
yes, that would help. Of course they don't want to do that because they want it to be easy for people to sign up.
