Though interestingly, there is far less handwringing in site reports when they talk about transfem burials than when they find AFAB bones with (male) weapons. There’s an intersection of sexism and transphobia there that i don’t fully understand.

I think modern cis-masculinity has a lot of its identity tied up in myths about a pure, cisgendered past which makes transmasc burials especially threatening? But on the flip side, almost has ever bothered to study early medieval transfem burials. That omission’s also significant
