this is the same company whose interview process for engineers is a fiendish maze of bizarre code riddles. they could hire and train moderators to distinguish between reporting and reporting abuse, they just clearly don't care as much as they do about their prized STEMlords.

part of the problem, i think, is that theres some pretty severe burnout for content moderators; having to read the most vile shit humanity can come up with for forty hours a week tends to wear on your soul. i have to imagine most people either quit immediately or get totally numb

I used to disagree with people that say "regulate social media like a public utility", but now I'm really starting to see their viewpoint. Corporate Silicon Valley executives are clearly not the best arbiters of speech on the Internet.
