I also think it's easier for white creators to perform this tedious ritual of "empathizing" with racists, which is apparently the holy grail of discourse & one of the main things I find myself praised for doing—never mind that I haven't done a video on race in more than a year.

At this point I would simply love to turn over the whole discussion of race to non-white creators. But of course that would require audiences to stop hand-wringing about the feelings of racists and actually listen to POC. Are we ready for that?

I mean personally I would adore some recommendations. Youtube is such a cesspit that if I try to look up stuff myself, I'm gonna get inundated with racist material instead. Most the philosophy/social issues people I follow are recs from other people I trust to avoid that problem.

I think the problem is that white people are looking at “the problem” for a solution. So it’s easier to focus on the scapegoat of “real racists” instead of facing the vague problems of institutional racism where they can’t pinpoint someone to blame.
