I also think it's easier for white creators to perform this tedious ritual of "empathizing" with racists, which is apparently the holy grail of discourse & one of the main things I find myself praised for doing—never mind that I haven't done a video on race in more than a year.

At this point I would simply love to turn over the whole discussion of race to non-white creators. But of course that would require audiences to stop hand-wringing about the feelings of racists and actually listen to POC. Are we ready for that?

Relatedly, Bernie Sanders. He gets to be angry and cantankerous and people love it. No black man, woman, or Muslim candidate would get to be so candid.

Hmmm, so basically you are saying these people should be treated as dangerous psychos but aren't. Well, I'm glad we agree on something.

A question that I always think when the opportunity to say those things comes up for me, as a straight cis white guy: is it useful or helpful for me to be more vocal/radical when POC/LGBT+ voices are being more cautious? Am I making their lives easier, or harder? I'm not sure.
