can someone swing me a pc dictionary plz no irony, im srsly mortified i apparently had been using “hon” on everyone i like and recently found out its a slur (thanks @ContraPoints) and i am SO SORRY and NOT OK. I had no idea it had originated as a slur. If anyone uses it STOP

i don’t really know much about this, maybe i used the wrong term.
I think I said slur in the video... it's a slur in the loose meaning of the term, an insult. it's not a slur in the way that the n word is a slur, that's how I see it anyway

It's my understanding that it's something nice older trans people used to say to be nice because they're old, and then inside the trans community it became something that went to slander the people who use that word in kindness. I think it can be a slur when used in that context.

I think "Hon" becomes a slur the second it's used against a gender non conforming/ non binary trans woman. IMO you got to take into account the power dymanics at play in each conversation to determine if it's used as a slur or not.
