It gives you a whole new audience of deaf & hard-of-hearing viewers—also, people learning English, English as a second language, or people who have trouble processing auditory information. That's millions of potential viewers you have to gain, and it's the right thing to do.
If you can afford it, @rev will professionally caption videos for you for $1 per minute of video.
Also worth noting: if the video already has subtitles in the original language, it makes it MUCH easier for the volunteers who translate it into other languages. And so it makes the videos become available in other languages sooner.

Yes! I've got progressive hearing loss and terrible focus so I definitely appreciate the captions to keep me on track.
My boyfriend is deaf so thanks for drawing attention to this, it means I can send him videos or watch them with him rather than just having to tell him about them.
