A lot of people never cared about free speech. Trump wanted to strengthen libel laws for people that were mean against him (by people, he meant the media). Anyone could see through him, Trump being a free speech guy was absolutely bullshit from the beginning

The free speech absolutists don’t exist and those who typically claim to be that way are usually, totally coincidentally im sure, sympathetic or favorable to the alt right and hateful rhetoric of ethnonationalists

There are some left wing free speech absolutists, but unfortunately you're right in most cases. Right wingers use it as a cover for their heinous beliefs. Ironically they're doing a lot of harm to FS because now people dismiss legit free speech issues as alt right whining.
