Anti-trans talking points are "concocted" and effectively market-tested by anti-LGBT ("pro-family") hate groups. The goal is to stir up hatred and distrust by appealing to emotional hinges: fear, disgust. Other go-to tropes: -LGBT "recruiting children" -made-up links to pedophilia -suicide rate concern trolling -"erasing biological women" -LGBT acceptance as "attack on free speech"
Ordinary people who don't know much about trans issues readily buy these talking points. People who fall for it never experience their bigotry as hatred. They feel like they have reasonable concerns because they've been made to feel that way by the rhetoric of the hate groups.
It is remarkable how similar this list is to the way races are vilified (all except suicide concern). Is there any difference conceptually between "erasing" and "great replacement"? Feels like the same playbook. Disappointing to hear coming from some on the left.
That last one pops up under the guise of "religious freedom" as well.
Oh cool, I didn't know that the bathroom predator canard had failed and they'd started to give up on it. If this is true, what will all those courageous right-wing bathroom warriors do once they're discharged from active service? Can Rod Dreher go to the VA now?
And worse of all: “So much for the “tolerant” Left...” That turn-a-phrase is THE WORST amongst them. Somehow, being tolerant, of the *intolerant* makes you a person of virtue. 1/2
2/2 But then they turn around and virtue signal SO HARD when they take the Nazi page of “the intolerant” card. How many times does that have to come up before it dawns on them that tolerance isn’t about “accepting...” it’s about UNDERSTANDING first, THEN accepting.
