The whole thing is especially hilarious because the non-4chan use of "hon" is actually regional Baltimore dialect. It's part of Baltimore culture. We have a yearly event here called "HonFest." Yes, really.

Is it pronounced "Hun"? Because everytime i read "Hon" I think of onomatopoeia for the stereotypical french laugh... honhonhonhonhon

You can also spell it 'hun'; the differences in spelling are regional variation (although the word was derived as an abbreviation of 'honey')
