Here's what's up. It's an indisputable fact of my biography that I experienced male privilege. It feels good to see another trans woman acknowledge it, to not feel like I have to fabricate my autobiography to own the TERFs. BUT I don't cosign the rest of Andrea's thread—

I initially responded this just to show support for a trans woman sharing something that I think we're generally encouraged not to share and that I think takes guts to speak about. But it seems the rest of the day she's devolved into freeform edgelord nonsense. I'm not with that.

That's not a fact, it's an analysis. It comes from a particular strain of feminism (an atomistic one, which resolves all at the level of individual experience.) There are other ways of looking at the world.

You're not totally lost here and there is probably something to your ideas, but you are oversimplifying the issue. I'm going to presume that this is more out of ignorance than having bad ideas, but you should engage with this topic more to understand what we are actually saying.

The shortest version ever is that "experiencing effects of" vs "having" male privilege IS a valuable distinction to make, and in a given situation, a trans woman WILL experience male favorment differently than a cis man in a way that deserves having a seperate phrasing.
