I think there's a gap in understanding as a result. The younger generation sometimes gets frustrated with me because they don't understand my upbringing or how I do things. And in turn I sometimes have difficulty understanding them.
It's pretty strange, really, since the age difference is like, not much wider than senior-freshman. But it's a world of difference. Things are definitely better now. And mind-blowing to think this happened in less than a decade.

Growing up in the 80s, you had no internet, no support groups. If you were a kid that expressed girly tendencies, you were called a f***** and that was that. I didn't even know "transgender" was a word until 2005.
