I feel like I'm from an entirely different era of trans history as people even just five years younger than me. In grade school, college, post-grad not once was anyone asked for their pronouns. The word "transgender" was not mentioned in my health education.

Whereas I've met 20-year-olds in full-on boy mode who are like "hi, I'm a trans woman, she/her pronouns!"

I think there's a gap in understanding as a result. The younger generation sometimes gets frustrated with me because they don't understand my upbringing or how I do things. And in turn I sometimes have difficulty understanding them.

It's pretty strange, really, since the age difference is like, not much wider than senior-freshman. But it's a world of difference. Things are definitely better now. And mind-blowing to think this happened in less than a decade.

I didn't realize "transvestite" was obsolete. How do people who present as women while still identifying as men categorize themselves nowadays? (I'm thinking like, "Dressed to Kill" era

More education for me. Thanks for that. I thought transvestite was a completely different thing.

People were defaulting to she/her for you after only a few months? Fuck, where can I get your super-mones/genetics? I've been on hrt for over a year and people still default to he/him for me.

Where did the transvestites go? Were they just eggs all along? Are they hiding now to avoid being mistaken for women? Are we collectively moving past the fetishization of feminine garb??

I think we talk about cross-dressing now? There are still people who identify with their assigned gender but dress in gender-nonconforming ways. (I suspect a lot more of them identify as non-binary now, though?)
