If you aren't abnormally arrogant, you might expect some sense of humility & responsibility to the group you're representing to come along with that. If a large percentage of your "constituents" are critical of your work, you'd think that'd be a cause for reflection & self-doubt.

As a cis, I agree. If you write for any group of people you are not a part of, talk to them. Listen to them. Don't assume from your point of view. You cannot make every single one happy but if several tell you you're in the wrong, listen to them.

As a cis and parent and potential in-law, I agree. If there are people on your life whose experiences are different than your own, or your expectations for theirs, talk to them. Listen to them. Engage with them. Love them.
