People who refuse to accept trans people for what they are, or what they're becoming, simultaneously attack us for not conforming ("you still have obvious male features") and for conforming ("you're just perpetuating gender stereotypes").

I suspect this true of a large percentage of trans people, though not all. So it's worth pointing out that lack of funding is one of the major obstacles to maximally effective transition for most trans people.

FFS is one of the most expensive transition procedures, and it is rarely if ever covered by insurance in the US. It has therefore become a point of economic class division within the trans community, with all the resentment, insecurity, and distrust that comes with that.

Framing it as an individual, personal failure is neoliberalism. Feeling how you feel about it is fine but the framing of individual responsibility for failure/success is the foundation of neoliberalism.

There we differ for sure. I fully understand the 'magic word' urge, for me it's like Virginia Woolf's "Orlando"---go to sleep a man and wake up a woman---but the woman I would wake up as would look much as Iook now, and very little like the patriarchal standard. Happy

Perhaps my largest failure not realizing my non-conformity is still "thats good enough". However its not like the emptiness of dysphoria has ever agreed with this idea in whole, but only after the suicidal ideation has momentarily waned does "thats good enough" seem viable.
