Suppose you start watching episode 20 of a show. If it's like _Law and Order_, that's fine. _Law and Order_ is episodic, and each piece is independent. If it's like _The Good Place_, you ought to have seen episodes 1-19 first. Let's call this "incremental".

That was my first guess too, but no! Naruto, One Piece, Bleach and Pokémon* all beat it in episode count, limiting it to anime. (American Soap Operas dominate, of course.) * Pokémon may not be incremental enough to count. Unclear. But those are just contenders I've heard of!

Not counting stuff like Soaps or Baseball (seriously, can you even begin to understand the 2019 season if you didn't watch 2018?), I'd say that there are incrementals that are meant to have a week between and incrementals that are made for binging. Which do you mean?

Either, but I'd say any show with more than 20 episodes isn't really gonna be binged. One could make an argument that binge-targetted shows are meant to be watched a season at a time, and thus you should really count the number of seasons.
