....utter deception, we will never take back control of our fishing waters #DominicRaab said today that we can negotiate better fishing quotas for UK, he did not say “we will take back control” time to be honest for once.

We cannot "take back control" because of the economic consequences of brexit. However, rejoining the EFTA, a different organisation than the EU, will let us do whatever we want wih fishes

....but we’d had to be in the Single Market, worse than being in with a voice.
-
2 pointers 1) EFTA does not equal membership of the Single Market (Take Switzerland) 2) Irrelevant right now but leavers did say the UK does not have a voice On to the main point, the only laws we technically have to follow as part of the EEA are rules that apply to the SM

EFTA states cannot be treated seperately while in the EEA and the countries of the EU will not destroy themselves to destroy the UK. Of course, we can opt out of the single market in the EFTA but that will take time.

For me, I would rather have the government focusing on how to solve this inconsistency than them having pointless brexit deals which do fairly little

Something of a joke from
@michaelgove. Our lazy fisherman sold their quotas to the Spanish years ago and the principal market for a British catch is the EU. A no deal#Brexit spells the end - not sustainability and profitability - of the UK fishing industry... - 2 more replies

How will you help small fishermen take back quotas from industrial fleets? This was always under control of UK!https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/jun/11/brexit-uk-fishermen-fishing-industry-quotas-uk-government …

This is total rubbish from a Minister whose credibility is sinking as each day goes by. The present Brexit Plan does not take back control of anything never mind fishing rights so please stop treating the voters as idiots.

Another snake in the grass. At the most critical decision moment in our post war history
@michaelgove has a personal ambition spat with Boris. He has then sat in Cabinet & watched & backed the May car crash. Nothing he says will ever convince me that he is sincere. Gove= me firstThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

If only British people ate the fish they catch. Funny how you Brextards get all moist about the Fishing Industry but can’t give a toss about any other sector. You’re not listening. You’re chained to your runaway train while your back benchers (literally) onanise in their offices.

Why has our fishing industry declined when other EU countries fleets have flourished? Could it be more to do with UK govt policy, or lack of it, rather than EU?
