You are so right and you would know better than this person. Always consider the source. Kind of odd seeing a man defend wearing the hijab with an ex-Muslim woman. It's like having a prison guard argue with a former inmate about how some prisoners like wearing chains so shut up.

I regularly see a mother taking her 3 very young daughters to school. They’re all wearing hijabs. Those children aren’t being given a choice. Nobody can tell me that this is right.
-
Thank you! That’s the key point here. Girls must wear hijab by the age of puberty according to Islam and in most cases, it’s at the age of 9 if they are lucky! In many cases, the brainwashing starts a lot earlier than that.

"Author of The Islamophobia Industry"

at least he puts his bias out there for everyone to see -
he will not write a book about the "christophobia industry". Because to be honest, islam has to be pandered to, treated with velvet gloves, and is ofcourse 100% peaceful, how dare you even as a muslim women to criticize.

The irony of somebody talking about ‘denying agency’ when he is telling you what to think!

White Westerners sure have a lot to say about the apparent—if we are to believe them—lack of oppression that women face under Islamist regimes

-
*A few ignorant people have a lot to say about the apparent. Most "White Westerners" are strongly opposed to violations of womens rights, which is why we are constantly improving on the values we already have. Don't denounce the majority for the ignorance of a few.

I don’t get how the west in their political correctness wants to think most women choose the veil. I would like some men to wear that oppressive tent for a while and see if anyone would want to freely choose to wear it.

Can't understand the blinkered nature of some of these ppl replying. Fact is a quick search on Twitter highlights many instances of women feeling forced to wear it. The fact is it's complex. For those women who choose to that's fantastic but for many this is not the case at all.

the wanna be victims can’t take one negative comment about hijab while million actual victims can’t escape it. clearly victimhood here is purely political.

But, Yasmine, how could you possibly know more than Nathan? He wrote a book!

Even of those who "choose to wear it", how many would face negative consequences — such as being disowned by their families — if they chose otherwise?

These misogyny-cheering pasty men are beginning to make me ill, Yasmine. What in Hell would Nathan know about this?
