Communism caused more human suffering and cultural damage than Nazism and it's not close.

The ironic thing is Fascim always has been quite obvious to a reasonable person. You can see it and understand where it is. Communism is far harder to identify, like Marxism and related ideologies. Its managed to hide its crimes far more effectively than fascism could.

Not necessarily. We've known the horrors of these places for some time now. Intellectuals have provided cover for communists proclaiming everything horrible that resulted from communism wasn't the fault of communism. Intellectuals are to blame for providing cover.
