Every former "Social Justice Warrior" I've ever known has said the same thing about having dropped it: they're mostly glad not to have to hate everyone and everything and are happy not to feel angry all the time. That and the relief of not caring if they get accused of things.

The biggest change I've seen is people building relationships with others again, finding stuff to enjoy with others instead of reasons to push them away (or argue, or unfriend, or avoid). This connection heals, bridges divides, enriches, nourishes, and improves everything.

The next biggest is in opening up to a broader experience of life, trying new things and sharing them with new people. Getting back to the roots of communities and not snubbing their noses at things that they used to act like they were too good for: food, company, places, scenes.

For me, with my friends (YMMV), the least important is not living in constant fear that you're the next one to be shunned for not being perfect, but at least one person I know has told me some heartbreaking stories about what living that way was like. It's really bad.

Not the only example of this kind of story I've read or been told, but they're all similar. It's completely worth the read. (I've also spoken directly with Keri since this.)https://medium.com/indian-thoughts/on-leaving-the-sjw-cult-and-finding-myself-1a6769b2f1ff …

It's insanely amusing to me, given the nature of my work, that people would assume zero former SJWs would have reached out to me.

That's genuinely sad. Not sure why I was compelled to write "genuinely", but I'm not going all the way back up there to fix it.
