    A vision by definition is proactive and is the fundamental means by which we orient towards life. It can adapt and evolve over time which makes it technically a bit reactive but more adaptive then anything. How you (re)act locally will be determined by your vision.

    Productivity tip: your phone should be on do not disturb 100% of the time. The only thing that should allow your phone to vibrate is about ~10 people in the world (started contacts who can punch through DND in emergency) and your calendar app so you're not late to next meeting.

    Another frame: efficiency in vs efficiency out. Trying to optimize the efficiency of resource use (costs & staff time in the below example) produces a very different effect than trying to optimize for units of value created per opportunity (quickly treatment for each patient)

    *THREAD ON HABITS* I've tried new year's resolutions. I've tried habit tracking. I've tried *no* resolutions and *no* tracking. After trying a bit of everything over the years, here's my current approach heading into 2020.

    Yes! I think the GCIs are gonna sell out. Just 8 spots remaining. If you're thinking of going, another reason to get a ticket now is that it's helpful to have a couple days to work on some of the pre-event exercises like the Dream List.

    Thread inspired by this essay, which recommends creating a big embarrassing consequence for missing two days in a row. I'll leave that for you to decide if it works for you, but it's certainly wiser than such a consequence for missing 1 day

    Slip ups happen. It's very hard to consistently not miss a day, & if you're only focused on not breaking this chain, then you've got a fragile system. If instead you focus on not missing 2 days in a row, then you have a really obvious warning signal to bring you back on track.

    Sometimes when you miss a day, whether that's your duolingo streak or abstaining from some addiction, you feel discouraged, and those bad feelings make it more likely to miss a 2nd day, then a 3rd day… …and then you're headed for a total downward spiral.

    Don’t miss two days in a row! It's important not to miss a day, but it's *even more important* not to miss two days in a row. Track both streaks. If you fall off the first, you still have the second, and now's the moment to keep it alive!
