We have just published our report into #PavementParking We recommend a ban on pavement parking across England and an awareness campaign about the negative impacts of pavement parking. I am delighted at the decision to recommend a ban on #pavement parking and hope that the government legislate within the next 12 months. Pavements are to protect pedestrians not for parking cars.

all well and good in theory but in all the streets in my town it would mean road closures as roads are not wide enough to accommodate parking on the road. How would you address that problem

Impossible unless smaller cars are built. If a pavement ban is introduced then nothing could move up our smaller roads. It would just mean more people having to dig up their front gardens to make car ports.

A blanket ban makes no sense, there are lots of situations where pavement parking leaves ample room for pedestrians, wheelchairs and pushchairs and helps keep traffic flowing. What needs to be banned is blocking or excessively narrowing the footpath
