    POWERS OF THE SECRETARY OF STATE✖️ It is vital that local populations have confidence in NHS boards. The new proposals will give the Secretary of State the power to appoint and veto board members which raised concerns from a number of witnesses. Our recommendation in Chapter 3:

    WORKFORCE 🧑‍⚕️ We do not believe that the duty to publish an update on the roles and responsibilities once every five years (as set out by the Government) is an adequate response to workforce shortages that are endemic in the NHS. Our recommendation in Chapter 5:

    This inquiry builds on our Oct 2020 report, which called for an £7bn annual increase in social care funding by 2023-24, a £46,000 lifetime cap on care costs and for the Government to publish a long term plan for the social care sector. 📰Read more here:

    Asked about the Mental Health Units (Use of Force) Act, which received Royal assent in 2018, said she expects the Act to come into force in November this year. She said the Government has been developing statutory guidance to support its implementation (13/ 15)
