If we’re serious about racial equity in SF, we cannot cut frontline staff at critical offices like the Public Defender — the one point of defense against a well-oiled incarceration machine. The Public Defender must remain fully staffed and fully funded. @sfdefender @VoteManoSF

How did this idiot get elected? Under Gascon, SF's incarceration rate was less than half the rate for California & less than 1/3rd the U.S. rate. Those rates fell further with with Chesa as DA. How do these rates constitute a "well-oiled incarceration machine"? 1/2

Duh, because DA needs to try EVERY criminal case, whereas PD only tries case with indigent defendants. Therefore, the DA gets a bigger budget because their caseload is higher.
