It's Purple Toadflax, Linaria purpurea, for Day 34 of 🌱 A native of Italy, this species is quite at home in our towns and cities. This one has self-seeded in one of our planters (with others just about everywhere else in the yard).

It's a fuzzy plant for Day 33 of with Lamb's-ear, Stachys byzantina 🌱 This has quickly established itself as the number one 'weed' of my Mum's garden following its escape from up the street. Pretty, great for pollinators yet very invasive.

Fantastic aspiration for the new decade to restore England's upland wilderness. Blanket bogs are England's 'rainforest', storing carbon, reducing flood risk and supporting wonderful biodiversity

An odd one for Day 31 of - a half-dead succulent found on an old stone wall in Northumberland. Perhaps Common Houseleek, Sempervivum tectorum? Happy to be corrected! A few of these observed but no sign in nearby gardens 🧐

Turns out that the nearby 'Blackthorn' I enjoy each spring isn't actually Blackthorn. For Day 30 of it's Cherry Plum, Prunus cerasifera 🌱 Sepals blunt and folded back, green new growth. Lesson: look before making assumptions!

For Day 28 of , I'm taking a punt at what might just be a new species for me: Heath Groundsel, Senecio sylvaticus? Caught my eye as something potentially different on a recent upland walk. Happy to be corrected! 😬
