The photo was taken using a wide angle lens which, among other distortions, makes objects far away look much smaller than close objects. Don't Carter's feet look enormous? They're the objects closest to the lens. That's just how a wide angle lens works.

Gawd you guys love to make something out of nothing. Objects in the foreground (he’s positioned in front of her) of a photo always appear bigger. Combine that with the fact that SHES A TINY OLD LADY and you get this.
