⚠️IMPORTANT THREAD⚠️ It looks like there are many people confused about what our on-demand side events are. Since they are not very common in Smash/FGC we will now go into detail about what they are and why they are AWESOME for any event.

On-demand side events was an idea taken from Magic the Gathering Grand Prix and localized for Smash 4 (and now Rivals of Aether) starting at Frostbite 2017. Basically, you will go to the side events area and find @Hyper_Crasher & @WaddleDont

You sign up for one of our 5 side events. All of them are 8-player double elimination brackets. They are called “on-demand” because once 8 players have entered the bracket fires! That means at any time while you are waiting for your main event(s), you can grind side events.

Each event is $1 and you can only enter one at a time. Once you are eliminated or win an event you can immediately go back and sign up for another one. 1st place gets $5 and 2nd place gets $3 (of the total $8 collected, $1 from each player).

The $1 collected comes from money match culture that has always existed in Smash/FGC. However, those occasionally lead to feel bads (and are, well, illegal 😅). This gives players real tournament experience without the cost or pressure of a main event bracket.

However, $1 might not be enough for some people to bother to enter so, we also offer amazing prizes from our sponsors and partners as well! At Frostbite 2017 we gave away 5 @ControllerChaos Frostbite controllers in addition to the money handed out throughout the weekend.

We gave out 1 guaranteed to the player who won the MOST side events total. We then took a list of every other player that entered and won a side event and raffled off the remaining controllers. Basically, 1 side event bracket win = one “raffle ticket” towards prizes from sponsors

So, every single time you win a side event at Frostbite you will get $5 and a “raffle ticket” towards exclusive prizes available from our sponsors ans partners. Remember, if you are the player who won the MOST over all brackets during the weekend, you automatically get them!

I hope that this has cleared up some confusion as to what our on-demand side events are and why you should absolutely #ComeToFrostbite and grind as many as you can. Sweet prizes. Real tournament experience. All in a low-pressure environment.

@Hyper_Crasher has confirmed they are single elimination brackets, not double as written above. Sorry for the confusion.
