Even now, according to prominent hardline Brexiteers, that loan was an altruistic act by Britain which the Irish state should repay by doing what Brexiteers want.

Ireland which he demonstrably does not understand. One of the great ironies of the DUP's Brexiteering is that it chose to ally itself with those who talk about "our island history". Put simply - they are not talking about the island which the DUP live on.

No wonder Brexiteers such as D. Hannan do not understand what Brexit means for Ireland. No wonder they do not care about Unionists in Ireland. He is, purportedly, an intellectual Brexiteer. Yet here he is, illustrating a point about Britain's history with a painting of a scene in

"Us"? It set Irish lives on the path to such misgovernment by Britain that one of D. Hannan's heroes, Edmund Burke, famously described it as "as well fitted for the oppression, impoverishment and degradation of a people… as ever proceeded from the perverted ingenuity of man".

I don’t understand how you could leave a light on for NI to come back in. There’s no provision for NI to become independent. So really, if the light is being left on for NI, it’s for a United Ireland within the EU.

Retweeted by - who says that the way back into the EU for Irish citizens in the north (Irish unity) is something to be discussed only in another half century. Isn't that just as utterly irresponsible as the approach of those Brexiteers who refused to think ahead?

BREXIT DAY There is only one way back to the EU. A date for a border poll must be set and preparations must be made. People across all sectors, north and south, particularly in business and commerce, should now make their voices heard. We must protect our economic future.

Indeed, why are the experiences of other countries in which the indigenous language has a history of marginalisation continually omitted from media discussion of the indigenous language of this place? Legacies of British rule resulted in politics whereby the indigenous languages

In other countries in which the indigenous language was subordinated for generations, what are those who oppose its visibility called? How are they described? Why are those descriptions not habitually used in media discussions of the visibility of the indigenous language here?

When there’s pressing issues that need dealt with, that are best delivered when we all work together, the DUP & a UUP member demonstrate yet again they are incapable of showing any grace and go straight to abusing their position.

Over 4 nights in Feb we will be showing the Ken Loach BBC drama Days of Hope as part of our Connolly Film Club. Sections of the British Press & Conservative politicians condemned the series for its critical portrayal of the army, government and police. See image for more info:

Some people might think B. Ahern ("the most devious, and the most cunning of them all", according to C. Haughey) would be pleased to see M. Martin - the man who was prepared to expel Ahern from FF - respond by talking himself into a situation in which he can never be Taoiseach.
